Environment

Everyone and every business on Mustique goes to great lengths to preserve the island’s pristine environment. The total number of villas will never exceed 110, leaving large tracts wild and undeveloped. Villa owners are steadily switching to energy-efficient appliances. The Mustique Environmental Committee is extremely active, organizing research studies and conservation programs, and educating through its quarterly Newsletter.

Many of our roads have purposefully not been paved. Encircling the island, our marine sanctuary ensures there is no spear-fishing and jet skiing within 1,000 yards of the coast. The indigenous wildlife is so prolific there is a 330-page, full-color guidebook describing it. And the Dive Shop has long been reseeding nearby reefs with healthy corals.

"We know that through education and understanding comes appreciation, and with that appreciation will come, we hope, even greater care of the environment".
